SHOPPING now being an activity with its own momentum, it is not surprising the Great Western Designer Outlet Village attracts more visitors than Steam.

In the early days the promoters of both sites seemed to have realised the need for a link between the two sets of buildings. McArthurGlen set a design challenge for schools, which was won by a team from Oakfield. Perhaps the owners could dust down these ideas and put them in place. As time goes on they may well benefit from visitors to Steam wandering over to see the outlet village. In view of the sad closure of the school, it could be fitting to call it The Oakfield Link.
