A BURGLARY has ruined a mother and baby's first Christmas together.

Sarah Court was away delivering Christmas presents to an aunt in Bognor Regis when the front door of her Swindon flat was kicked in.

With her was her 11-month-old son, Ryan.

She returned to find £122 missing and the flat ransacked even the baby's cot had been searched for valuables.

Small items of jewellery and a silver box was also taken.

Miss Court, 25, who lives in Galsworthy Close, Liden, could hardly bear to re-enter the flat.

She said: "It's ruined Christmas. With it being Ryan's first Christmas, I wanted to try to make it really special for him.

"They have gone and ruined it, because the flat doesn't feel like my home anymore, not now that somebody's gone through my bedroom and my property.

"They even went through Ryan's cot they had no need to do that.

"Why has somebody stolen from my baby what has my baby done to them?

"I just don't feel safe anymore."

The break-in happened on Saturday.

Miss Court left the flat at about 9.30am, only to be telephoned at about 6.10pm by a neighbour, who said the door had been kicked in.

The missing money was taken from various rooms in the house, and included a money box containing cash Miss Court intended to spend on her baby son.

The flat is owned by the Sanctuary Housing Associa-tion, and Miss Court claims she was refused a weekend repair to her damaged front door.

Instead, her father had to do the job. Sanctuary's housing manager, Stephen Prime, said a complaint had been received and was being looked into.

He added that a surveyor was being sent to assess the situation. Swindon police spokeswoman Alvina Kumar said the break-in was being investigated.
