AS A cyclist for 50 years and a motorist for 35 years, I'm confused to know what some drivers and pedestrians want as regards to people cycling. When I have tried to use these terrible cycle and pedestrian paths, often pedestrians walk on the cycle section. Some get abusive when asked to use the proper side of the path, yet these same people wouldn't walk down the middle of a road that cars are using.

When you are cycling out of town some motorists brush past you giving you no room at all, yet when they approach someone riding a horse, they couldn't be more courteous they slow down or stop. Is human life worth less than injuring a horse?
