A revolutionary new "door-to-train" service has been launched by the transport company First, the owners of Swindon-based First Great Western. The scheme, known as +BUS (PlusBus) uses taxis to take passengers to railway stations.

The scheme plans to link homes and offices to rail services, provide door to station transport at public transport rates, cover major departure and arrival at stations, be bookable on-train, at stations or by phone, be dedicated to rail customers, carrying up to six people and cover an area of up to three miles from the railway station. The project will be trialled for a year in Truro, Cornwall.
