ON November 11 I was lucky enough to be involved in the Remembrance Day service and parade at St Andrew's Church, Chippenham, to remember all the brave men and women who fought and died for us in the wars so that we could live in a free world.

I was part of the group from the 10th Chippenham Club Scout Group. Also taking part were members of other Chippenham Cub and Scout packs, the Chippenham Sea and Air Cadet Forces, various members of Her Majesty's forces and town dignitaries.

We were welcomed into the church by the minister before he spoke about the Act of Remembrance and why it is important to remember all those who died for their country.

After the two minute's silence, Last Post and Reveille, the minister said a prayer. We then sang the national anthem and the hymn, O God Our Help in Ages Past. The banners were received at the altar during this hymn.

The lessons were read by the president of Chippenham Royal British Legion and the Mayor of Chippenham before we sang the hymn, In Christ There Is No East or West.

The prayers were followed by the hymn, All My Hope On God Is Founded.

We then sat for the sermon before singing the Onward Christian Soldiers.

During this the banners were returned. After the Act of Commitment, the Lord's Prayer and the blessing we left the church.

We marched to the war memorial, waited there until the wreaths were laid before marching through the town and saluting to the Mayor of Chippenham.

I felt very proud to be marching with the Cubs, all the men and women in the forces and those who fought in the war.

I enjoyed myself and feel it is very important that we never forget the sacrifices made by these brave men and women.
