THE Environment Agency is urging people to be prepared following the floods that hit many parts of the county last year.

The agency is warning people in vulnerable areas of Wiltshire to be on their guard and to make adequate preparations.

Technical services manager Chris Waters said: "The agency is very keen for people who live in areas at risk, such as Bradford on Avon, to make preparations for possible flooding this year.

"The town council will have sandbags for people to use in emergencies but people should really be preparing themselves using other methods."

Some of the methods include arming homes with a flood alarm warning, seals for vents, airbricks and grilles as well as barriers for doors.
