HAVING read Cllr Osborn's letter in the Wiltshire Times dated November 30 I have to agree with his sentiments regarding Trowbridge.

I must confess that over a period of some 30 years I lived in another of the Five Towns and both my wife and I, during that time, regarded Trowbridge as not worth visiting for shopping purposes. As a result we used to visit Devizes, Chippenham and Bath.

However, 18 months ago I moved to Westwood and I thought I would take another look at Trowbridge and, to my surprise, I realised what I have been missing.

I have found so many positive aspects with regard to the town, the people, the shopping facilities and, not least, the available parking close to the shopping areas.

In all the shops and shopping precincts I have visited, both large and small, nothing has been too much trouble to the staff to make sure I got what I was intending to purchase.

When I wanted a fridge/freezer I was shown all the items in stock and when I made my choice I was offered delivery the same afternoon. It was delivered precisely at 2pm as requested, advice on usage given, unwrapped, set up correctly by means of a spirit level and all the plastic wrappings taken away.

When I wanted printer ribbons for my old word processor everyone laughed except for a very helpful assistant in a small computer business in Trowbridge.

I appreciate that Trowbridge, like many other places, has its problems, but with this kind of spirit, I am sure they will be overcome.
