MOTORISTS eager to get a jump ahead of Bank Holiday traffic were caught up in a town centre snarl up.
Fleming Way was brought to a standstill as more traffic than normal attempted to pass through Swindon.
It was possibly a hint of things to come for the weekend.
The M4 was today expected to be heavily congested because of traffic travelling West to the FA Cup Final in Cardiff, the Badminton Horse Trials and to a music festival in Bristol.
Rail services between Swindon and London will be reduced from half-hourly to hourly tomorrow and there will be disruption all weekend at Paddington.
