CRICKLADE library is on the move from its Bath Road premises to a more prominent location.

The library will be moving to its new headquarters, the former Ockwell's Glove Factory in High Street, on Friday, June 21.

The new location will ensure the library is at the heart of community facilities, as it will be sharing its site with a doctor's surgery and the town council offices.

Chris Moore, the Cricklade Community Librarian, said: "The new library will offer a number of exciting new facilities.

"Moving to these premises will allow the library to enjoy a complete refurbishment, and offer services in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.

"We will be working with the other tenants, Dr de Silva and the town council, to provide a real community facility for residents."

Library users said a final farewell to their old library yesterday by having a cup of tea with staff.

Cricklade Library has been based in Bath Road since January 1972 and the building is now being taken over by a pre-school.
