FOOTBALL: LAVERSTOCK & Ford took a major step nearer to securing the Hampshire League Division Two title when they hammered Broughton 9-0 on Saturday.

Manager Andy Wykes had urged his players to win in style against a side who had conceded 11 goals last time they met.

'Stock raced into a four-goal first half lead before an ill-disciplined Broughton outfit were reduced to ten men.

The Salisbury team turned up the heat in the second half to produce a scoreline that vastly improved their goal difference to that of fellow title challengers Overton Uni-ted who were without a game.

With three matches left to play 'Stock's destiny is now in their own hands. On Saturday they visit strugglers M&T Awbridge.

United on course for double

FIVE second half goals helped keep Shrewton United's league and cup double dreams alive.

The Skurrays Wiltshire Premier Division leaders were being held 0-0 at half-time against Aldbourne in Saturday's Wiltshire Senior Cup Semi-final tie.

Shaun Collins broke the deadlock early in the second half before Dean Foot netted twice.

Lee Burden added the fourth with Luke Kerley tapping in the fifth late on.

Earlier, a triple substitution by manager Stuart Withers backfired when Collins suffered a knock and United had to see the game out with only ten men.

Shrewton now face Marlborough or Trowbridge in the final.

On Saturday, they return to league action when they visit Cricklade Town.
