YOUR article about the increasing damage being done to The Ridgeway quoted a local 4x4 driver, Mr Freeguard, who cited the right to pursue their so-called sport there.
As so often happens, those who are quick to remember their rights forget that for every right there is a responsibility involved.
Surely it takes only common sense to see the damage which 4x4 vehicles inflict on this pathway.
It may be great fun for drivers to create 18-inch deep ruts, but in the process, the rights of walkers, horse riders and cyclists are infringed.
It should not have to take an Act of Parliament to restore our rights, when simple courtesy and responsibility is all that is needed.
