IN the Wiltshire Times on March 7 I saw a letter by S P Sharpe of Warminster about tackling litter in our towns.

I live near Clarendon School and the rubbish that is dropped by pupils is a very big eye-sore to us all on the estate. Most weekends I go out and collect one black bag of rubbish which I take back over to the school and place by their bin. I don't blame the school for the rubbish, just those pupils who are lazy.

Why can't people be taught when they are young to help look after their environment then maybe we would have a cleaner town for all to enjoy. If there was an award for pupils who drop rubbish I would give it to Clarendon School pupils.

I must point out it is a small amount of pupils who cause this problem. These pupils are the future, if they don't care now what hope is there for the future.

The council staff work so hard each day to keep our streets clean it's a shame so much money is wasted in collecting up rubbish that is dropped by lazy people. It is about time something was done about this problem. If rubbish was made more biodegradable then at least it would disappear and we would not need so many landfill sites in the future.

This letter is written by one very fed up reader who keeps picking up lazy people's rubbish.
