MID WILTS SUNDAY LEAGUE: PHOENIX A took another step to the Division One title after defeating Marshfield A 7-2 away.

Three wins for Roy Ashworth and Stuart Lay saw them home with Zeidah Grundy for Marshfield winning two of her three matches.

Bradford Penmoor moved into second place after a 6-3 away win over the bottom club St Augustines.

Three victories for Sarah Holsing, Vernon Button and Noel Vincent saw them home.

Phoenix A lead Bradford Penmoor by 29 points with both teams having played nine matches.

St Georges are third with 44 points from seven matches, four points behind Penmoor.

Hardenhuish C are fourth with 43 points also from seven matches.

Calne B and St Augustines are tied at the bottom with the same points and matches won.

The leaders of the 3/3 Mixed Division One, Freshford, suffered a rare defeat when they lost 6-3 at home to a strong Chippenham 23 team.

Two undefeated pairs, Lyn Norris and Adam McKenzie, and Eunice Williams and Derek Lamb saw Chippenham home to victory.

Freshford still lead with 52 points from seven matches, 19 points ahead of Phoenix who have a match in hand.

In the Men's Division One, second placed Hardenhuish jumped back to the top after an 8-1 win over Westbury White Horse.

Hardenhuish now lead Freshford by eight points and have a game in hand as well and look set to retain their title.

The quarter-final of the Knockout Cup saw Chippenham 23 move through to the semi-finals after a well earned 269 points to 212 points victory over Phoenix A.

Chippenham have been drawn away to Marshfield in the last four.

Hardenhuish B and Calne A contest the other semi-final with the final fixed for March 27 at the Christie Miller Sports Centre, Melksham.
