BLIND date winner Georgina Knapp was so smitten with her brush with fame that she has quit her job to launch her pop career.

The 23-year-old from Bushton, near Wootton Bassett, took part in a live edition of the TV show and had to win a public vote to go on a date to Istanbul with business analyst Tanaka, a 25-year-old from London.

The pair did not find love but the former IT manager enjoyed the buzz of being in front of the camera.

Now she has quit her job and is working with Christian Sharpe, the man who produced Kylie Minogue's hit single Spinning Around.

Together they have produced a song called Waiting For A Sunbeam, which she performed in public for the first time at a singing competition in Yates wine bar in Swindon.

She performed the song with two backing dancers from the Judith Hockaday School of Dance.

Now Georgina has launched her pop career, she is working with two agents to try to secure a record deal.

She said: "I would really like to get signed, a record deal would be the next step. I am hoping someone from the crowd will have seen my performance and come forward with an offer.

"I am still getting recognised from Blind Date. I got mobbed in the bank when I went in the other day. It's a bit crazy but it's great.

"I had to quit my job because my agent said I couldn't do that and go off to auditions and castings so I decided to concentrate on my music."

Georgina is also hoping to pursue a career as a television presenter.

She said: "The presenters' market is saturated at the moment but my agent is working on it. I am pursuing both avenues, it's just a case of what happens first, the music or the presenting."
