WESTLECOT men will be bidding this weekend to extend their season on two team fronts.

They face a regional play-off in the Famous Grouse Top Ten today (10am) against Victoria (Street) and then tomorrow meet Thornbury (10am) in the quarter-finals of the Wessex League play-offs.

In the Top Ten competition Westlecot have been in awesome form this season, storming away to the Group J title without dropping a point in any of the four disciplines singles, pairs, triples and fours.

They must be warm favourites today to beat Victoria, Group K runners-up, and book a last 16 place in the finals, to be staged in Darlington over the four-day Easter period.

After an indifferent start to their Wessex League campaign Westlecot have been impressive since Christmas and came roaring up the East Region table to finish just one point behind Carterton for top spot.

Last weekend in the first round of the play-offs (last 16) they saw off the challenge of North Region winners Midglos with a 85-72 success.

Tomorrow Westlecot meet Thornbury, Central Region runners-up, in the quarter-finals and with a strong side named are confident of reaching the semi-finals.
