ADULT Learners' Week runs until Saturday and hundreds of organisations across the country are running free taster sessions covering a variety of courses.

The aim of the week is to turn dreams into reality as learning can be the perfect way of exploring untapped abilities. You can study for a qualification that will help you develop or change your career or improve your employability credentials, or even unleash hidden creative talents.

The Open University in conjunction with COROUS, its corporate arm, is providing a free three hour online course, Learning to Learn Online, during this week. It aims to highlight the importance of using work-based learning to encourage staff to develop their skills. Staff who study Learning to Learn Online will gain a good understanding of the skills needed for online study and an understanding of the requirements needed to become an independent learner. Course participants should have experience in using emails and a web browser.

COROUS commercial director Marion McKechnie says, "This is an important opportunity for staff to consider updating their skills and knowledge in the workplace. Similarly, the offer of this free course gives employers the chance to encourage their staff to take part."

Organisations looking for more information about how their staff can study Learning to Learn Online are asked to visit the Campaign for Learning website at www.campaign-for-learning.org.uk. Then click through Learning at Work Day, its resources section and then its special offers subsection, where a link to Learning to Learn Online information can be found.
