THE Rock Day that has wooed music fans into Pewsey for the past two years continues on May 24 although the original organiser, Alan Dainton, has moved away.

The event was launched by former sports centre manager Mr Dainton, who ran the Coopers Arms, and was an immediate success.

Mr Dainton has moved to Devizes and the organisation has been taken over by Jerry Kunkler, licensee at the Moonrakers, and John Holmes, who is one of the owners of the Coopers Arms.

Mr Kunkler said this year's event will feature ten bands, some local and others from as far away as the Isle of Wight, playing in the afternoon and evening.

Rover tickets costing £10 will allow the holders into all the events in the afternoon and evening or a £3 twilight ticket will cover all the evening performances.

Mr Kunkler said: "It was all started by Alan Dainton and we owe him a huge debt of gratitude for the original idea. A group of us have now got it together and it will go ahead on May 24 with a good cross section of bands.

"It's our attempt to bring a good day to Pewsey with lots of good music and we hope the public will respond by coming along."

The Rock Day will kick off at 1pm at The Crown in Wilcot Road with Dr JJ's Blues Band; at 2.15pm The Skeeters will be at the Moonrakers with Doveheart playing at Alfreds.

At 3.30pm the John Fenlon Band will be at the Coopers and local band Jowdi will be at the football club.

At 4.30pm Black Bud will be on stage at The Greyhound with John Fenlon continuing at the Coopers.

There will be a break until 7pm when Trafficer will take the stage at the Moonrakers followed at 8.30pm at the Alfreds by Spence Solutions.

At 9.30pm Off The Rails will play at the Coopers and the day will be brought to a close at 10pm at the Greyhound with Pete Leigh and the Union Band from the Isle of Wight.
