UNBEATEN sides Biddestone and Westinghouse, along with Calne, are the early pacesetters of Division One of the Wiltshire Cricket League.

Biddestone visited Nationwide House and kept them to 181-7, Kevin Flay 46, and Mick Harris 46 not out shining for the home side.

A fine 102 not out from Dwaine Perry saw Biddestone to an eight-wicket victory.

Westinghouse inflicted a first defeat of the season on visiting Bath Civil Service, bowling them out for 99 in 40 overs, Paul Bailey 4-17. Colin Fry's 41 not out then took Westinghouse to an eight-wicket win.

At Calne, the hosts scored 173-8 against Purton.

Purton were in trouble at 3-3 but a 75 from young wicketkeeper Dave Dunn saw them get close. They finally lost out as Fred Key took 4-28 and Luke Botes 5-45, Purton being bowled out for 166.

Potterne hosted Burbage & ER and batted to 221 all out, but John Wheeler (86 not out) and Roger Cope's 55 took Burbage to a four-wicket success.

Division Two

Great Bedwyn lost their unbeaten record to Urchfont, for whom Paul Slater (67) and Michael Brooks (78) helped them to 218-7.

Bedwyn despite George Stone's 54 not out were dismissed for 183 in the 42nd over.

The only remaining undefeated side, Cherhill, visited winless Minety and bowled them out for 152 with Alan Brown (52) top scoring. Tom Taylor with 65 not out led Cherhill to an eight-wicket success.

Swindon Civil Service travelled to Buscot Park and bowled their hosts out for just 101 before hitting the runs off in 19 overs for the loss of one wicket.

Cooper-Avon Tyres entertained Lechlade and made 168, as Nick Smith took 4-43 and scored 86 in a narrow two-wicket win.

Sutton Veny gained their first win at the expense of visiting Highworth, who were restricted to 138-9.

Andy Frost 57 and Alex Tennant 71 not out helped Seagry knock the runs off in 21.3 overs.

Division Three

Wanborough managed their first success as they beat hosts Bathford by six wickets.

Bathford were restricted to 129-9. Phil Ball (32) and Nick Stacey (29 not out) saw Wanborough home with eight overs left.

Wroughton Wranglers went down to their first defeat, by 19 runs in a high scoring encounter at Seagry.

Adam Lawrence hit a fine 94 to help Seagry to 249-7. Then, despite Hendy Alleyne's 57, Anthony Lewis (5-71) swung the game Seagry's way, taking the last wicket with eight balls remaining to leave Wroughton 230 all out.

Blunsdon gained their first win at the expense of visiting Moredon Royal Oak as Kevin Aubrey's 50 helped them to 192-9, Steve Shankur taking 4-26. Darren Fisher (5-44) helped bowl Moredon out for 120.

Dauntsey Gentlemen also broke their duck at Spye Park. Colin Edinborough 44 top scored for them in a total of 171 all out, Phil Allsop taking 4-51.

Paul Andow responded with 5-38 as Spye were bowled out for 106.

Division Four

Lambourn made it five wins in a row as they bowled out hosts Westbury 3rd out for 107.

Paul Annetts' 5-28 did most of the damage as Lambourn managed an eight-wicket win.

Mildenhall were shot out for their lowest ever league score 38 at the hands of Wilcot.

Wilcot were restricted to 131-8, but 7-14 in 10 from Graham Smith stunned Mildenhall.

Division Five

Buscot Park and Burbage & ER 2nd lead the way, although Buscot lost for the first time at United Churches who chalked up their first success.

James Hill (86) and Adam Rumbold (50) saw Churches to 241-8 and restricted Buscot to 175-8 in reply.

Lavington registered their first win at the expense of visitors Keevil. Mark Hulse (80), helped Lavington to 221-6.

Kelvin Lockwood then made a fine 94 but Keevil were restricted to 154-9 in their reply, John Amor with 5-32.

Litten Tree also won for the first time, their victims being Purton 2nd.

Purton reached 172-9 but a matchwinning stand of 114 between Kevin Crook (57) and Colin Blake (56) took Litten Tree to a six-wicket win.

Chippenham 3rd had a five-wicket victory at home to Nettleton, bowling their visitors out for 127 of which Nobby Tucker made 69. Ray Bullen 53 and George Sykes 20 then helped Chippenham to their success.

Division Six

Undefeated sides Biddestone 2nd and Nationwide House 2nd met, the hosts winning by just five runs.

Biddestone made 173 all out and Nationwide's last wicket fell at 168 with nine balls remaining.

All Cannings are the only team in the division yet to win despite bowling visiting Goatacre 3rd out for 135, of which Andy Donegan scored 84 not out. But Cannings collapsed, being dismissed for 117.

Wootton Bassett 3rd scored 203-2 against Cooper-Avon Tyres 2nd, thanks to John Millington's 91 not out.

With Gareth Anslow taking 4-44, which included a hat-trick, they bowled the visitors out for 187.

Lacock did well to make 221-6 at home to Calne 2nd, Nick Church's 53 coming in the last 10 overs.

Calne lost early wickets, but reached 195-7, Church completing a good day's work with 4-39 in 15 overs.

Division Seven

Cherhill inflicted the first defeat of the season on visiting Beehive Bradford, scoring 201-9 thanks to Steve Hutchison's 57 and Malcolm Parrack's 51.

Beehive fell 15 runs short of their target as they were dismissed for 187, Tim Carpenter 4-61.

Bath Civil Service 2nd defeated winless United Churches 2nd, who made 200-4 with Mike Offer scoring 43. Service claimed victory by three wickets, as Mike Grattan took 3-45.

Dauntsey Gentlemen 2nd maintained their good start with a 45-run home win over Potterne 2nd. Mel Cammish (46) helped them to 140-5.

Neil Webb then made 35 for Potterne but Dave Dellend's 7-21 in 15 overs and Cammish (3-31 in 10.4) bowled them out for 95.

Division Eight

Corsham 4th are the only undefeated team after their 94-run home win against Bathford 2nd. Phil Davis' 61 helped them to 168 all out and Mark Hick then took 6-13 as Bathford managed only 74 all out in reply.

Blunsdon 2nd lost for the first time as hosts Collingbourne 2nd posted their highest league total, 271-3.

A spell of 7-12 in 6.1 overs and a hat-trick from Richard Kimber really did the damage as Blunsdon subsided to 83 all out.

Devizes 4th still seek that elusive victory, going down to visiting Biddestone 3rd by 132 runs.

Mat Pearce, 15, with 4-29 in 10 overs was the pick of the Devizes attack as Biddestone made 236-8.

His father Graham then top scored with 50 in the reply of 104 all out.

All Cannings 2nd are still without a win after a three-wicket defeat at Swindon 4th.

A 40 from Guy Perrett jnr was the main contribution in a Cannings total of 103 all out.

Swindon's young bowlers, under 15 Peter Sharp (4-21) and under 14 Richard Barratt (3-19) did the damage and Kevin Thompson with 45 saw Swindon home.

At Highworth, the home side's second string were dismissed for 121 against Chippenham 4th.

The visitors went on to an easy eight-wicket victory.
