PETE Kaljusko has stepped down as chairman of Corsham Rugby Club after 28 years' service.

In his playing days, Kaljusko served as second team captain, before becoming fixture secretary, president and chairman, and a driving force behind the club's move to their current Lacock Road ground.

Colin Brockhurst was voted in at the club's recent annual general meeting, with son Denzil Brockhurst taking his place as treasurer.

Former club president John Wiltshire also stepped down as secretary, Adrian Jones stepping in to that position, while hooker Tim Russell was appointed first team captain and Rich Morea second team skipper.

Richard Slade continues in the position of fixture secretary.

At the club's end-of-season dinner there was a double for young winger Nick Denham, who picked up awards for top try scorer and most improved player.

First team No 8 Ben Russell was voted player of the year, with Brian Waymont picking up the second team player of the year award.

Elaine Jones, meanwhile, collected the Mike Crellin Trophy for clubperson of the year, while Steve Tye received a special award in recognition of his efforts to the second team.

The club, now looking forward to their 40th anniversary next year, will formally reconvene for pre-season training on Tuesday, July 8, under the guidance of new head coach Nev Smith.

Football is currently being played at the club on Tuesday nights, and anyone interested should pop along or contact Tim Russell on 01249 714054.
