PURTON beat Swindon by one wicket in an under 13 match in the North Wilts Junior Cricket League.

In a low-scoring match, visitors Swindon were dismissed for just 41 in 12 overs. Robert Dean (3-7), Sam Walton (2-8), Aaron Lee (2-9) and Joseph Mills (2-12) took the wickets for Purton.

Purton found batting just as difficult as Nathan Iles (4-10) and Elliott Read (3-14) led the Swindon fightback. However, amid much excitement, Purton managed to scrape home (Purton 18 points, Swindon 4 points).

Chippenham entertained Erlestoke in a match that was dominated by two outstanding innings.

Centuries do not occur very often in under 13 cricket so to have two scored in the one game was quite extraordinary. Opener Liam Dawson displayed a wide range of shots as he hit 17 boundaries in his maiden century before being eventually dismissed for 110 enabling Chippenham to declare at 201-8 in 33 overs.

Erlestoke lost early wickets to swing bowler Omar Ali Javed (4-23) and were 12-3 when captain Toby Dorgan came to the wicket.

Dorgan rebuilt the innings, including a six into a neighbouring garden, and ensured that Erlestoke achieved a draw. Dorgan also reached his first hundred before he was out in the final over for 101 (13 fours and 3 sixes) as Erlestoke finished on 166-8 (Chippenham 17 points, Erlestoke 7 points).

At Wootton Bassett, visitors Westbury were dismissed for just 65 in 29 overs with Dean Williamson (3-10), Tom Davies (2-4) and Jonathan Aitkenhead (2-13) doing the damage. Williamson (19 not out) and Sean Toomey (14 not out) then guided Bassett to a comfortable eight-wicket victory (Wootton Bassett 18 points, Westbury 1 point).

In the under 15 league Cannings continue to set the pace as they recorded their third straight win at home to Wootton Bassett.

Batting first, Bassett had no answer to the pace bowling of Adam Croutear who took 6-17 in 8.3 overs. Guy Perritt also took two wickets as the visitors were bowled out for 59. Perritt (23) and David Russell (16 not out) took Cannings to a comfortable five-wicket victory (Cannings 18 points, Wootton Bassett 2 points).

Lee Meaden (22), Sahied Ibrahim (25) and Hibberd (44) led the way as Westbury posted 198 all out against visitors Purton.

Matt Sharp (4-15) and Cameron (3-8) then bowled out Purton for 73 to give Westbury victory by 125 runs. For Purton only Nasir Nawaz (25) offered much resistance (Westbury 23 points, Purton 5 points).
