I REFER to the letter from Anthony Tripley and his defence of the cull of kangaroos in his native Australia.

He appears to suffer from what I have found to be a typical Antipodean attitude to animal welfare in which the desire is to kill as many animals as possible with no thought or compassion.

If Mr Tripley had found the time to read the letter from Marilyn Harrison published two days before my letter he might have understood where I, and any civilised human being, is coming from.

I did not realise that Osama bin Laden shared my views on vegetarianism but I will bow to Mr Tripley's knowledge of the subject.

I do know that being a vegan or vegetarian is to have a much healthier diet than that of meat eaters and we do hold the moral high ground.
