Angler Mick awaits record confirmation

SALISBURY Angling Club could very well have a new rudd record following the capture of a massive 2lb 12.5oz rudd from the club's Wellow Lake.

Captor Mick Keynes is eagerly awaiting ratification of his fish which, if approved, beats the existing record by more than six ounces.

The big rudd was one of several highlights recorded by anglers during the last week.

Waldens Farm Fishery's barbel record now stands at 6lb 4oz after Guy Turner used float-fished sweetcorn to catch a bag of chub and roach followed by the biggest barbel yet caught from Waldens.

John Butterworth fished Deacons Lake in a five-hour session using a quivertip with corn over pellet loose feed and caught more than 100lb of carp.

Across at Witherington Farm Fishery, Saturday's open match saw massive weights of carp come to the nets.

The afternoon and evening match was won by Lee Woodhouse with 111lb 10oz while S. Mayo was second with 98lb 4oz and Paul Barnard third with 92lb 6oz.

The carp came from the Inner Snake.

All lakes at Waldens Farm are fishing well with bags of good roach, chub, skimmers and chub although the big carp have gone off the feed during the hot days preferring evening or night feeding.

Typical bags up to 60lb or 70lb a sitting from Monks Lake and Abbots Lake.

Harnham Kingfishers held an evening match at Witherington Farm last week with 24 young anglers taking part.
