IT seems as though peg numbers 23 and 24 are the hot pegs, not only at Ivy House Lakes but also at South Cerney's Wick Water top lake.

In the South Cerney Angling Club Carp Cup on Sunday the Wickwater complex fished really well for the club's Carp Cup.

Twenty-seven anglers fished the match and 18 caught more than 10lb. Simon Jones set a new lake record for the top lake with a weight of 89-12-0 taken from peg 24.

Feeder fished pellets dominated the weights with the top four anglers all weighing over 50lb. Carp from 2lb to 7lb featured in the weights.

Chris Davis however drew peg 19 at Ivy House last Wednesday and the result was the match record has now been broken for the third time in two weeks.

Chris took a fabulous 135lb but then pegs 23 and 24 came into the frame with Kendal Barrie taking 97-12-0 from peg 23 and Elick Payne took 80-12-0 from peg 24.

Wednesday Club match at Ivy large lake: 1, Derek Hillier 25-4-0 (carp and bream pole/pellet/paste; 2, Graham Rose 12-8-0; 3, Mick Robins 11-12-0.

Derek Hillier chalked his third win within a week when he topped the latest BCA match at Greenhill Fisheries where fish were hard to find.

Results: 1, Derek Hillier 6-5-0; 2, Micky Wright 3-12-0; 3, Fred Allen 2-0-0.

The Greenhill Fishery fished better for their Open where the water owner Mark Wakefield topped the weights with a nice bag of all skimmers weighing 8-2-0 beating Brent Parsons at the next peg who had 5-6-0 of roach and skimmers.

Third was Dave Watkins with one carp for 5-3-0. This was a three hour evening match.

Bob Gould and Mick Rozier won the Haydon Street Pairs Cup at Inglesham with a combined weight of 6-12-0. Second was Mark Ponting/Jumbo Rogers 4lb and third was Roger Giles/Rudi Dietrich 3-13-0.

Club Anglers League 2003 Pairs match held at Clanfield.

The winning pair was Gary Laidler 3-15 and Neil Haydon 5-2 of Coleview AC with a total of 29 points.

Second pair was Mick Robbins 13-10 and Colin Dunn 3-13 for a total of 28 points they also represented Coleview AC.

The third team came from Haydon Street AC, Barry Jenkins 4-9 and Mick Rozier 3-6 with 26 points.

Top weight on the day was Mick Robbins, second was Chris Telling of South Cerney AS with an 8-8 and third was Neil Haydon.
