After 23 straight defeats Devizes 4th finally broke their duck at the expense of hosts Bathford 2nd in Division Eight.

It did not look promising when Lee Pitman (40) and Phil Gay (21) helped them to just 125 all out.

Bathford however struggled for runs from the start as accurate bowling from Graham Pearce (3-22 in 15 overs) and Lee Pitman (2-8 in eight) restricted their reply to 90-9.

Leaders Collingbourne 2nd and Corsham 4th both won to be well clear of any challengers.

Collingbourne made 222-8 at Highworth 2nd with Steve Knight (72) top scoring.

He then took 3-28 in 11 overs and with Richard Kimber (3-39 in 13) helped restrict Highworth to 164-7.

For Highworth, Arnold Firkins top scored with 27 after taking 4-36 in 11 overs.

Corsham 4th bowled hosts Chippenham 4th out for 99 with Chris Ings (4-33) and Neville Bennett (3-18) doing the damage.

Corsham managed a four wicket success with two overs in hand.

All Cannings 2nd scored 163 all out at home to Biddestone 3rd with Richard Sykes (45 not out) top scoring and John Taylor taking 4-30.

He followed with a top score of 40 as Biddestone gained a comfortable seven-wicket win.

DIVISION ONE

Collingbourne took over as leaders after an easy 120-run win over Burbage & ER.

Ghais Kahn (56) and Tim Nicholls (39) top scored in their 199-9, Roger Barker with 4-43 for relegation-threatened Burbage, who were then shot out for 79 as Matt Nicholls (5-13) and Barry Langfield (4-22) ripped through them.

Calne kept up the pressure at the top as they scored 182 all out at Nationwide House, thanks mainly to a fine 87 not out by Chris Downham.

Martin Harman took 5-68 for Nationwide, who struggled to 145-4 with Eddy Roofe scoring 57 and Will Sherwood 39.

Potterne were shot out for 157 chasing Bath CS's 214-9, Simon Gaiger 34 and Graham Gaiger 35 top scoring.

Division Two

Swindon CS increased their lead as they defeated visiting Sutton Veny by three wickets.

Fifty from Colin Brown helped Veny to 170-6, but Mike Giddings (41) and Shaun Smith (38) saw Civil Service home with four overs left.

Buscot Park bowled hosts Cherhill out for 86 in 25.3 overs as Rob Owen took 4-20 in 7.3 overs and Paul White 4-24 in nine.

Buscot struggled before getting home by four wickets thanks to Hamish Millar's 27 and Dave Towner (19 not out).

Lechlade stayed on the fringe of the promotion race following a narrow four-run victory over struggling Highworth.

Paul Rowley top scored with 66 in their 211-7 but Highworth came close to what would have been only their second win of the season as Chris Brown made 59 not out in their 207-5.

Cooper Avon Tyres restricted Urchfont to 151-8 and fine innings from Derek Wilde 76 not out and Simon Bailey 59 not out saw them to a comfortable nine-wicket win.

Division Three

Lowly Moredon Royal Oak cruised to a seven wicket home success against Dauntsey Gentlemen lifting them off the bottom for the first time since mid-July.

Shanka with 6-46 in his 15 overs was largely responsible for Dauntsey being bowled out for 101.

Roger Morton with 53 then ensured no problems as Moredon reached their target.

Spye Park rattled up 268-6 at Wanborough with John Haines (58) and Richard Bowater (77) leading the way and Paul Sore (3-41) bowling well for Wanborough.

Sore then made 46 not out and Mike Pethick 57 but Wanborough fell 52 runs short at 216-5.

Seagry kept up their challenge as they won at home to Heytesbury by eight wickets.

Rob Barnes (55) and Justin Wagstaff (45) helped Heytesbury to 190-7, but a fine 117 not out by Alex Fereday then set up Seagry's win with eight overs to spare.

Blunsdon continued to struggle, losing at Swindon 3rd by 36 runs.

Nick Parkinson (79) and Adam Trebbick (56) made most of Swindon's 184 all out as Nick Lancaster took 3-36 in 11 overs.

Dave Loughton top scored with 51 in Blunsdon's reply but Chris Mabberley's 4-43 and Randy Roze's 5-45 bowled them out for 148.

Division Four

The meeting of the top two at Lambourn saw visitors Avebury emerge winners and almost certainly champions by 18 runs.

Greg Dix (98) and Nigel Hollister (70 not out) shared a sixth-wicket stand of 161 in just 18 overs as Avebury overcame a shaky start to end on 245-7, Paul Annetts having done the early damage with 4-25.

With Julian Ashdown's 77 and Ian Richards (51), Lambourn were always in with a chance but Dominic Fry with 4-69 saw them finally dismissed for 227 with two balls left.

Coates followed last week's home win by travelling to struggling Warminster 3rd and scoring 160 before bowling their hosts out for 83.

The mid-table clash between Corsham 3rd and Wilcot saw the hosts take the honours by four wickets.

Graham Staplin (80) and Chris Hyde (61) helped Wilcot to 215-5, but a stand of 167 for the third wicket between Matt Unwin (62) and Dean Wallington (85) set up the Corsham win with three balls to spare.

Division Five

The top three sides all won with Keevil remaining in pole position.

They have a 30 point cushion over Litten Tree and United Churches and, thanks to 50s from Paul Fennell and Kelvin Lockwood scored 198-6 at home to Purton 2nd, who they then bowled out for 138.

Litten Tree entertained Nettleton and Kevin Crook's (50) and Mark Brook's (73) 140-run opening partnership saw them to 239-6.

Julian Brown also knocked 31 not out, then grabbed then 4-30 and Martin Sansom 4-45 as Nettleton were bowled out for 148.

United Churches kept the pressure on with a maximum point win at Devizes 3rd.

Duncan Mead took 5-6 as Devizes were shot out for 68, then made a rapid 42 not out to see Churches home by 10 wickets.

Chippenham 3rd's recovery continued at Buscot Park 2nd as they won by 49 runs.

Ray Bullen (50) top scored in their 225-9 and Chris Day followed with 5-39 which was the deciding factor. Despite Tony Watts' 46 and Gary Else's 70, Buscot were bowled out for 176.

Burbage & ER 2nd bowled visiting Lavington out for 109 with Paul Swatton taking 4-26 and Tom Wallbridge 4-8.

John Amor top scored with 24 and then took 5-43 as Burbage struggled. Finally, Bob Cady's 26 and Dan Swatton's 24 ensure they made it by two wickets.

Division Six

Leaders Nationwide House 2nd gained an easy win at Calne 2nd. Derek Milne's 71 helped them to 207-5 and Calne were bowled out for 92.

Bottom-placed Cooper Avon Tyres 2nd had Lacock as visitors and saw them rattle up 253-5, thanks to Brian Harding's 96 not out and Chris Doel's 50.

Nick Church then took 5-17 and 11-year-old John Harding 2-2 in two overs as Cooper Avon slumped to 51 all out.

Fellow strugglers Trowbridge A also lost at Goatacre 3rd after making 241-6.

Andy Staravloski took 3-42, then made 44 and, with 16-year-old Shaun Preen 7scoing 6, Goatacre managed a three-wicket victory.

Division Seven

Cherhill 2nd consolidated third spot with a seven-wicket win at bottom-placed United Churches 2nd.

Churches scored 152-4 with David Sims making a patient 55 not out.

A rapid 72 from Steve Hutchison saw Cherhill home with 16 overs in hand.

At Potterne, man-of-the-match Andrew Hillier started with a fine 120no against visitors Bath CS 2nd and with 49 from Dave Evans helped Potterne to 254-7.

Hillier then took 5-37 as Civil Service were bowled out for 189.
