Chippenham Park Bowls Club held its annual captain's day on Saturday but the day was doubly significant as it was the latest in a long of line of events to celebrate their 80th anniversary.
The club has been an important part of the community since its formation in June 1923 and Saturday provided its members with the opportunity of paying tribute to everyone who has played a part in its history.
Club president Brian Coombs, 71 said: "To be in existence continuously for 80 years is amazing and really deserves to be celebrated.
"The club means a great deal to the members, who once they have joined, become members for a lifetime.
"Captain's day gives the club captain the opportunity to thank the members for their hard work through the year and the present captain admits the day has a special significance.''
