A NOISY neighbour has been thrown out of his flat after months of drink-fuelled antisocial behaviour.

Vincent O'Halloran, 34, has been given 28 days to leave his fourth-floor council flat at Milverton Court in Park North before bailiffs move in.

Swindon County Court heard yesterday how the self-confessed alcoholic, has made the lives of his neighbours a misery with loud music and threats, both written and verbal.

The court was told how he had repeatedly ignored warnings from Swindon Council to behave or face eviction.

In January, following complaints, Swindon Council wrote to O'Halloran informing him it would be taking legal action. The court was shown the letter on which O'Halloran had scribbled obscenities.

Witness Martin Jones, a council housing officer, said: "Swindon Council offers tenants the chance to alter their behaviour.

"He has had chances but he has ignored them. He has completely disregarded the right of other residents to have quiet enjoyment."

His drinking had spiralled out of control following the death of his brother in 1999.

O'Halloran said: "I would drink and listen to my music to forget about what had happened.

"The problems are 100 per cent linked to alcohol.

"I would be drunk at eight in the morning the time did not matter."

And he said he had not known the seriousness of the situation until it was too late.

"I was looking at it like it was just a civil action. But it is a lot more serious than that," he said.

Imposing the order, Judge Charles Wade said: "In my view there is no real evidence that he has learned his lesson. The recent history of his failure to comply with the warnings only serves to reinforce that view."

Judge Wade also banned him from entering the immediate area surrounding Milverton Court for three months after he leaves the flat.
