Swindon College Old Boys Rugby Club faced a six-hour journey when they visited Camborne in their first pre-season friendly. Flanker Luke Wills organised the fixture with his former club.

Camborne got off to a good start with a try scored within the first few minutes as College tried to find their feet after the journey.

A few good breaks were made by the College threequarters, with one chip over the defence from fly half and captain Greig O'Brien being knocked on. Wills was the first on to the College score sheet with an entertaining run from half way.

Camborne managed to extend their lead with three more tries to lead 26-5 at half-time.

Veteran John Godsell played his first game at prop and managed to link with debutante Gary Dumpster to score early in the second half. Hooker Mark Brown missed the second conversion.

College managed to salvage two late tries through Tim Waters and Mick Tatum, Brown converting one, but ended up losing 36-22.
