PUPILS who missed out on the A-level grades that they wanted may feel like it is the end of the world. But not all is lost.
A firm of educational consultants is suggesting youngsters look at an alternative, a foundation degree that was introduced in September 2001. Run in conjunction with employers, it is designed to equip students with work skills and offer an academic background.
The qualification is available in engineering, technology, media and public administration.
Richard Watson-Heaton, a senior consultant, said: "While still looking for an intellectual challenge, some want a different learning style, which enables them to apply their knowledge directly and see the results."
