Devizes batsman Joe Hickey hit the final ball of the match for four to give his side a two-wicket win over Goatacre in Glos/Wilts Division 1.

After slumping to 30-4 chasing 203, Devizes rallied first through Lambert (38) Vooght (79) and Ashford-Brown (39).

They still needed 36 from the final six overs which included an extra over for bowling out Goatacre in 49 overs.

This proved crucial as, despite late wickets falling, Hickey kept his nerve at the end to score 21 and take Devizes to victory.

Earlier, Goatacre had recovered from losing Gee early on, as Curwood and Jif Wilkins took the score to 49 before Curwood fell to Saye for 25.

This brought Ed Wilkins in to join his brother and they put together an exciting partnership of 112 in 20 overs before Ed was bowled by Muse for 39.

With 10 overs to go a total in excess of 230 looked probable, but the wicket of Jif Wilkins, bowled by Ashford-Brown for a brilliant 88, signalled the start of a collapse that saw the last seven wickets fall for 26 runs in six overs.

Fine bowling by Alex Muse (5-51) and Ashford-Brown (4-53), along with a lack of application by the Goatacre lower and middle order, saw them dismissed for 203.

Goatacre are holding their 75th anniversary party on Sunday.

The festivities will begin at 10.30 with the 20-overs-a-side Callick-Williams Cup final between either Goatacre or Malmesbury and Purton or Potterne.

At 1.30 there will be a Kwik cricket demonstration, followed at 2.30 by the annual match between the Chairman's XI and the President's XI. From 6pm there is a jazz evening and barbecue.
