IN the North Wilts Junior Cricket League under 13 division Calne enjoyed their first win of the season in a thrilling game at home to Wootton Bassett.
Calne batted first and reached 130-1 thanks to Matt Bevan (58), Courtney Earl (35) and Andy Windsor (35).
Jonathan Aitkenhead (4-37) and Dean Williamson (3-34) then brought about a Calne collapse and the home side declared on 148-9.
After losing a wicket to the first ball of their innings, Bassett recovered thanks to Sean Toomey's 62.
At 130-5 the visitors were favourites but fine bowling from Earl (3-23), Tom Crosby (3-28) and Ben Kenway (3-29) brought Calne right back into the game.
In a pulsating finish, the last Bassett batsman was run out going for a second run that would have levelled the scores, giving Calne victory by a single run.
Biddestone batted first at Erlestoke and reached 162-8 declared .
The Erlestoke reply was built around Marcus Brown (37) and Toby Mullins (26). The later batting collapsed against the bowling of Taylor (3-5) and Needham (2-0), but Erlestoke just managed to hold on for the draw, finishing on 83-8.
Opener Jamie Firkin (88 not out) and Jamie Baden (62 not out) took Swindon to an impressive 209-3 declared at Westbury.
Westbury lost seven cheap wickets in reply but then determined resistance from White (41 not out) and Scott Manners (21 not out) helped them reach 112-7 and secure the draw.
