The wife of lorry driver Barry Harding, 51, who was killed in a road accident, is in a stable condition.
Carol, 49, suffered seven broken ribs, a punctured lung and head injuries, when their camper van collided with the back of a lorry in a lay-by on the A38, near Plymouth.
She is being treated at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
Paul Harding, 57, one of Barry's three brothers, said: "We hoped Carol would be transferred to the Great Western Hospital, but there are no spare beds. She is talking now but obviously still traumatised by the crash."
Police are still investigating the accident which occurred on August 8.
The crash also killed one of the couple's three beloved Jack Russell terriers. The dog was found by the foot pedals of the driving seat.
