Thousands of people are expected to converge at The Lawn to celebrate all things wooden.

The fifth Forest Festival, billed as Swindon's biggest green family event, is less than two weeks away.

Swindon's own Scratch Choir and friends will start the festival on the main stage followed by the juggling, dancing antics of Les Bicyclettes.

Hand to Mouth Theatre Company will present a combination of puppets, music, and percussion, while musicians Mukka will play their original style of Balkan and Arabic music.

Other attractions will include Herbie the Clown, Highworth band Wrde, The Greasy Gravy Blues Band, and guitarist and singer Alan Burke.

Arts, crafts, displays, children's workshops, alternative technologies and woodland demonstrations will also be on offer.

The festival, which is organised by the Great Western Community Forest team and supported by Nationwide Building Society and South Western Arts, takes place from 10am to 5pm, on Saturday August 30, at The Lawn, in Old Town.
