TOMMY MOONEY is determined to turn the County Ground into a fortress as he bids to become Town's match-winning hero for the third successive game.

On the eve of Town's home clash with Notts County, the striker has also revealed that the words of a former England manager help fuel his burning desire for success.

Mooney said: "We need to make the County Ground a place other teams are scared to visit starting with Notts County.

"The players can do their bit but I've had a glimpse of the impact the supporters can make here.

"When we pulled the first goal back against Sheffield Wednesday, the noise really cranked up and it swept us forward.

"The fans have seen one home defeat and they can play a big part in helping make sure that there aren't too many more.

"If you are going to succeed, you need to be strong at home."

As for his own blistering start to his Town career, Mooney cites the words of his old Watford manager Graham Taylor.

He said: "I remember Graham saying that if you didn't strive to make your mark at a club then there was no point in being there.

"I've never forgotten that and he was absolutely right. I didn't join Swindon to just mark time. I hope I am starting to demonstrate that.

"Supporters have high expectations of me but not as high as the standards I set for myself."

Mooney feels the win at Colchester last week was 'massive' in terms of the season as a whole.

He said: "The difference between a goalless draw and a 1-0 win could be crucial come the end of the campaign.

"Two extra points could mean the difference between success or disappointment in the shake-up."

Mooney feels this Bank Holiday weekend is a significant one in terms of the season.

"A win tomorrow and then a good result at Bournemouth really gets confidence flowing. You don't really want to contemplate emerging with nothing."

Town have sold their entire allocation of tickets for Monday's clash with Bournemouth at the Fitness First Stadium (3pm).
