Ref. 27177-2A BELLY-DANCING enthusiast has set up a club for like-minded 40 to 60 year olds in a village near Melksham. Angela Cranton is encouraging women to shake their bodies during weekly sessions at Whitley Reading Rooms.

Eight people have taken up the challenge and the 56-year-old is appealing for more support.

She said: "I've been doing it for seven years now and decided to set the club up because I wanted classes closer to home.

"My members are very enthusiastic and I'm hoping to cook up some more support

"It is a great way to tone up your body and it makes you feel good."

Mrs Cranton has always been interested in the dance but her love of the exotic moves grew after a holiday in Egypt.

She hopes the bug will catch on and could start-up more classes if demand grows.

"My members are all beginners and they thoroughly enjoy themselves.

"When I asked them whether I should stop the classes over the summer there was a resounding 'no'," said Mrs Cranton.

"We may put on performances in the future but it depends on how the ladies feel.

"It is one thing enjoying going to class but it is quite another going out in public and saying look at me."

Belly-dancing classes are held every Friday from 7-9pm. For more details phone (01225) 703899.
