SOARING temperatures have resulted in record demand for a tool-hire company's climate control products.

Due to increased demand, Hire Station, which has three branches in Wiltshire including one in Hobley Drive, Swindon, has invested £250,000 in 1,000 new coolers and air-conditioning systems. The company's procurement director, Andy Connor, said: "More and more buildings have built-in cooling systems, but they only run for a few weeks each summer so problems can occur the next year, which is why a reliable portable climate control is essential.

"Studies show that productivity falls 3.6 per cent for every degree above 22C and 4.7 per cent at temperatures over 32C," he said.
