Neil Kirkpatrick has expressed his disappointment over the way some Western League managers have attempted to prise his players away.

The Trowbridge manager has watched his side get off to a successful start to the season but admits he is concerned about losing some of his star performers to bigger clubs.

He said: "One of my lads has had a Western League manager phoning him up trying to get him to play for them and even some of their players have tried to encourage him.

"I understand that managers might want some of the players and if they approach me then I have no problem with it.

"What does bother me is that they go through the correct channels they should not contact the player, they should contact me. If it happens again I will report the incident to the FA."

Trowbridge recorded their second victory of the season with a 5-1 demolition of Corsham on Thursday night.

The goalscorers were Adam Nunn, Gordon Saunderson, Dave Percival (2), and Dave Mitchell but the win came at a cost as several key players picked up injuries which kept them out of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Purton Reserves.

Ricky Gilbert was the saviour on Saturday as his sweetly struck free-kick gave injury ravaged Trowbridge a share of the spoils.

Trowbridge beat Pewsey Vale 3-2 on Wednesday night with goals from Gordon Saunderson, Dave Percival and Waleed Bakali.

The win came at a cost though as they go into Saturday's big game at Stratton Crosslink without six of their first team regulars. They then play local rivals Bradford at home on Tuesday night (KO 6.15pm).
