WILTSHIRE FOOTBALL LEAGUE: Warminster Town continued their impressive start to the season on Saturday after goals from their two front men gave them a 2-1 victory against Aldbourne.

Craig Lewis and Dave Watkins have started the season in prolific mood and their first half-goals were enough to make sure Warminster made it three wins out of three.

Warminster started the game brightly as for the first 30 minutes of the half they dominated the play and scored their two goals.

The second half was a much tighter affair with play switching from end to end.

Aldbourne's Steve Titchener scored a deserved goal after 80 minutes but Warminster were able to hang on for the victory.

Chris Taylor, Warminster manager, admits his side have even surprised him so far.

He said: "I didn't expect to win three games out of three, it has been a really good surprise.

"I am pleased to see my strikers getting on the score-sheet and hopefully it will continue."

Warminster slipped to their first defeat of the season on Wednesday night after losing 3-1 to Shrewton reserves.

Tom Baxter equalised for Town after half-time but bad defending allowed Shrewton to seal victory.

Warminster will entertain Marlborough on Saturday before travelling to Corsham on Wednesday night.

Bradford Town manager Les Stevens insists his players can do better despite seeing them defeat Malmesbury Vics 2-1 on Saturday.

Goals from wing-backs Nick Quinton and Mark Barnet were enough to ensure victory but Stevens was disappointed with the performance.

He said: "It wasn't a very good game and I know my players can do better.

"We created a lot of chances but allowed them to go begging. We should have made the game safe a long time before they scored their equaliser."

Quinton's first half effort gave Bradford the lead but Mark Neil cancelled this out with an equaliser mid-way through the second half.

With time running out Mark Barnet scored Bradford's winner.

Bradford lost 6-2 at Melksham Reserves on Tuesday night despite taking the lead early in the game.

Tom Pang scored both Bradford's goals as he continued his prolific start to the season but Stevens admitted his side were well beaten.

Bradford will play Westbury reserves at home on Saturday.

In the Premier Division, Devizes Town Reserves boss Phil Ireson was pleased to get the season under way following the club's recent upheavals with a 2-2 draw with Wroughton.

Paul Blagdon opened the scoring for Wroughton with a 40-yard cross that sailed over the keeper's head.

Devizes started the second half with a flourish and scored twice in the first five minutes through Steve Sartin and David Cox, but Wroughton equalised 15 minutes from time through Sean Clarke.

After the game the Devizes boss said: "We are all looking forward to the season. We have a good young side and I think they did well against Wroughton."

Justin Stevens and Phil Corcoran earned victory for AFC Stratton over Marlborough Town.

Cricklade and Shrewton United Reserves shared the points with Ian Ross putting the home side in front before United drew level through Graham Coombes to score.

Biddestone maintained their 100 per cent record with a 5-0 win at Pewsey Vale Reserves.

Tim Tasker put them two up at the break and John O'Meara added two more after.

Steve Healey added a fifth late on.

In Junior Division One, Bromham's Ashton Turner and Jim Sandiford scored a brace with Jason Hillier adding a fifth in a 5-2 win over Down Ampney.

Marlborough Town Reserves and Biddestone Reserves drew 2-2, with Tom Payne scoring the Town goals and Steve Mallard hitting the visitors' goals.

Tony Vizard and Neil Kernock were on target for Sherston who beat Ferndale Rodbourne by 2-0 and Trowbridge Reserves registered a 3-0 win over Cricklade Reserves.

TRAX Gym and New College are the early pace-setters in Junior Division Two, both securing comfortable wins at the weekend.

Both sides are yet to drop points, winning their first three games of the campaign.

Trax hit five goals past a Westside Reserves side bolstered with a host of first team players.

Goals from Wayne Petrie (2), Tony Niester, Darren Kaye and Steve Jones secured a 5-2 success.

New College gained a 3-1 win at QT Swindon with goals from Scott Lane, Mark Glover and Steve Dixie.

West Swindon beat Green Baize by the odd goal in a nine-goal thriller.

Neil Lee scored a hat-trick for Baize to bring them back to 4-4 before Dave Pickering scored in the last minute to clinch victory for West Swindon.

Clarendon and Tidworth continued their good start with a 2-1 win over Blunsdon Reserves while Chiseldon Castrol and Minety shared the points in a 2-2 draw.

Blyskawica and Swindon Asians drew 1-1 while Lower Stratton picked up three points with a useful 3-0 win at Pinehurst Old Boys.
