Calne Town could be without a number of key players this weekend as they travel to Willand Rovers looking to continue their good start.

Martin Wheeler (calf) and Matt Prattley (knee) are struggling after picking up knocks in Saturday's 2-0 win at home to Ilfracombe and Gary Smart is doubtful after tonsillitis.

Simon Hillier, Calne assistant manager admits the injuries are a blow but is confident his squad have the strength in depth to cope.

He said: "We have a big squad this year and all the lads in reserve can count themselves lucky not to be in the first team anyway.

"If any the lads don't make it we have Dale Pottinger and Ryan Prattley standing by, while Ben Moore will definitely start in place of Ben Highmore who is on holiday.

"I have no doubt that whoever plays on Saturday will do a good job for us."

Goals from Yan Klukowski and James Lye were enough to give Calne a convincing 2-0 victory on Saturday and Hillier was delighted.

He said: "All 14 players involved were superb. If I was to be critical the only thing I could say is that we should have scored more than we did."

Hillier had words of praise for Klukowski who has only joined this season. The 16-year-old midfielder was released by Southampton academy at the end of last season and Calne fought off competition from Corsham to sign him.

This week's opponents, Willand, narrowly lost 2-1 to Calne in the same fixture last season but hammered them 4-1 at Bremhill View.

Hillier said: "No game in the Western League is easy and I am anticipating a close match on Saturday."
