A SWINDON College chief is proving that you never stop learning.

Despite never having gone to university, the college's associate director of estates, Nigel Wichall, 36, from Haydon Wick, has been awarded a Master of Business Administration in Educational Management from Leicester University after three years of part-time study.

Mr Wichall has been at Swindon College for six years and will take a leading role in its move to the North Star campus that will involve the closure of the Regent Circus site and the building of a £15 million extension.

He combined his study with working full time and bringing up his two daughters, aged four and seven.

He said: "I took the course because I wanted to understand the further education business in more detail.

"I left school at 16 to work for a contractor, and I studied for an ONC and HNC before passing the Chartered Institute of Building exams.

"I did not go to university and I wondered if I could achieve a Masters qualification.

"I am enjoying life at Swindon College. One of the large parts of my job description is delivering the new building plan for the project and we are close to naming a contractor for it," he said.
