A SENIOR North Wiltshire District Councillor is disappointed that Dyson is proposing to move the final assembly of its washing machines to Malaysia, as reported in yesterday's Evening Advertiser.
Coun Christine Reid, lead member for regeneration, said: "I feel let down.
"Although Dyson plans to continue to expand its Research and Development Centre at Malmesbury it is sad that the manufacturing process is being lost overseas."
The Council is concerned there have been a significant number of possible job losses in the area, including; the original announcement from Dyson's to transfer manufacturing of the vacuum cleaner overseas, the news that RAF Lyneham will close in 2012 and last week's announcement that Westinghouse Brakes may also move from Chippenham.
