A CHARITY that loans computers to people with disabilities has been officially re-launched.

Tech 4D used to called the Home Computers for Dis-abled People and now operates from the Pinehurst People's Centre.

For a £10 fee disabled people can have the loan of a computer for a year as well as receive training.

The Mayor of Swindon Coun Derek Benfield (Lab, Covingham and Nythe) and the Mayor of Highworth Coun Kenneth Poulton attended the launch evening.

Kathleen Poynter, the charity's secretary, said: "We were all pleased to see some clients and other guests who came along to give our small charity their support."

Proceeds of a car boot sale and skittles nights were used to buy a computer and a printer the star prize of the evening's raffle.

The draw raised more than £500 for the charity.

To date the charity has loaned Internet linked computers to more than 100 disabled people and pensioners.

The charity gets many of its computers second-hand from offices which are updating their equipment. It is also able to secure cut price deals on the machines.
