BLUEBIRDS player-coach Adie Mings made his first start of the season on Tuesday and is now looking to get a run in the team to build up his fitness.

He started up front alongside loan signing Marc McGregor and said: "I was pleased to have got a start although don't feel I played as well as I could because I haven't had any games in pre-season," said Mings.

"I will have to start playing some games and get in amongst it and get my fitness up that way. But I am contributing and doing as well as I can and we were playing a very good side in Weymouth on Tuesday. You could see they are going to be in the top three come the end of the season. It's up to us really in what we do now."

Mings believes Chippenham can rally and turn their good performances into much needed wins.

"We can bounce back from this defeat because I don't feel we played that badly to be fair," he added.

"In the first half we did quite well and hit the bar twice. In the second half we huffed and puffed and had a couple of half chances. Macca had a good chance at 2-0. Hervs didn't have too much to do all night. There were a couple of one-on-ones near the end but that was when we were pushing up."

He put Tuesday's defeat down to the quality of Weymouth player-boss Steve Claridge. "In the end we were just undone by two world class goals. Nobody is really panicking or worrying about our performances because the way we are playing the wins will come.

"The league is very false for the first few games and you can only start to look at it after 15 games."
