Police believe 39-year-old Warren Grant, who was found dead behind the wheel of his Jaguar car at Chippenham Rugby Football Club, committed suicide.

His body was found by a member of the public at midday on Saturday.

Mr Grant, who is believed to have suffered from depression, lived alone at Balmoral Close, Cepen Park South, Chippenham.

Wiltshire Police said the death was thought to be suicide and there were no suspicious circumstances.

A member of the club, who did not want to be named, said that although Mr Grant was not a member, he did go along to watch rugby matches.

A spokesman from the club refused to comment on the investigation, but said that the thoughts of the club were with Mr Grant's family.

Mr Grant's neighbour, who did not want to be named, was visibly shaken by the news of his death.

Describing him as a lovely man, she said: "He was tall and handsome, and was always dressed in nice clothes and drove that nice car. He was a good neighbour."

She said he enjoyed going to the Two Pigs pub in Corsham on a Monday night on his motorbike to watch live music with friends.

Mr Grant had been living in the house for three years and had previously been married.

"He did have a lot of girlfriends when he first moved in but he hadn't had one for the last 12 months," said his neighbour.

He had various jobs in IT and enjoyed going to the gym at the Olympiad Leisure Centre.

His neighbour believes that his condition had deteriorated in the last few months and he had stopped taking his medication.

"I hadn't heard him playing his music and he loved his music," said the neighbour.

"It is very sad. I can't stop thinking about it.

"The police came and told us what had happened on Saturday afternoon."

It is believed that his father Dick Grant lives in Trowbridge and he had a sister living in Buckinghamshire.

He spent some months living and working in Saudi Arabia while renting out his house in Cepen Park but then returned to live there himself.

An inquest into Mr Grant's death was opened and adjourned in Salisbury on Tuesday afternoon.

The funeral will be held at St Nicholas Church, Winsley, near Bradford on Avon, on Tuesday, at 2.30pm.

His family have asked that donations be made to the Samaritans, care of AD Bewley funeral directors at, 26a Church Street, Melksham Wiltshire SN12 6LS.
