M J Warner has a short memory when it comes to government. If he checks the records, he will find in the 22 months prior to the '97 election the unemployment figures came down every month.

At the time when these figures were ever discussed, both Labour MPs and trade union bosses claimed every time that the real figures for unemployment were between four and 10 million and yet when they won the election these figures were never quoted again. Of course the figures now are even better.

We certainly don't need a Mr Blair in our party, leave the spinning and deceit to Labour.

Since '97, this government has wasted over £2 billion on failed computer schemes and we have had over 60 tax rises to pay for it. Tell the young Conservative councillors, Mr Warner how we had to wait up to three weeks to get buried in 1979. Do you remember, every month when the balance of payments for this country were produced, to show how good or bad we were doing?

They haven't been published now since about '98, can you tell us why?
