A DERBY upset at Rylands Way dealt a blow to Highworth's Hellenic Premier Division title hopes.
John Fisher's side suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at struggling Wootton Bassett - a result that lifts the hosts out of the relegation zone.
After an uneventful first half, Bassett striker John Magani netted the decisive goal following a corner shortly after the interval.
Highworth pushed forward hoping to salvage a point and recent signing Ian McSherry hit the Bassett bar but Pete Yeardley's side held on to claim a well-earned victory which leaves them fifth from bottom.
Highworth remain ninth, albeit with seven games in hand on leaders Slimbridge.
Devizes failed to bounce back from their FA Vase mauling at the weekend, losing 1-0 to visiting Paulton in the Screwfix Premier Division.
