THE South Wiltshire Economic Partnership has appointed a new chairman and vice-chairman.

The chairman is technology consultant Stephen Woodhouse, senior partner at recruitment firm Wisewalk Resources, in Salisbury, which helps businesses through a wide range of human resources consultancy services.

Mr Woodhouse has more than 20 years' experience working in the advanced technology, telecommunications and defence industry sectors.

He said he was pleased and honoured to be offered the chairmanship.

"There are some very exciting opportunities ahead for the local economy, including the development of Solstice Park, at Amesbury, the redevelopment proposals for Churchfields Industrial Estate, the provision of extra land for employment and our links with the research triangle at Porton Down and Boscombe Down," he said.

Taking over as vice-chairman is Ian Hammond, managing director of James Hay Pension Trustees Ltd, which has 600 staff.

Mr Hammond said: "Having experienced the rapid expansion of our business in Salisbury, I believe I have the expertise to assist SWEP in helping to ensure that future developing businesses can thrive in this area."
