A MAN living on disability allowance has been warned he may face a prison term after admitting dealing in drugs.

William Finch, 48, of River Parade, Chippenham, pleaded guilty to supplying cannabis resin when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court this week.

He also admitted possessing the drug with intent to supply it to others when he was arrested by police in August .

Finch also admitted possession of cannabis for his own use and having some amphetamines. He pleaded not guilty to a further charge of possessing amphetamines with intent to supply.

Ian Halliday, defending, said Finch lived on disability allowance and had been troubled in the past by drug and alcohol abuse.

Adjourning the case so a pre-sentence report can be compiled, Judge John McNaught warned him that he could face prison.

He said "I am going to put this case off for the probation service to compile a report about you.

"Don't read into that that you will not get a custodial sentence. The offences are serious and almost always get a custodial sentence. Whatever the report says don't think it is all over bar the shouting."
