YOUNG striker Justin Porter is aiming to force his way into the Bluebirds first team by firing Devizes Town away from the bottom of the Screwfix Premier Division.

Chippenham boss Steve White sent the 19-year-old to Nursteed Road on a month's loan and he has scored one goal in two appearances so far.

He impressed against Bridport on Saturday and hopes he can string some good performances together that will put him back in the reckoning at Hardenhuish Park.

Porter, who hails from Taunton, started his career at Derby County but failed to make an impact and left the Rams.

Injury then curtailed his attempts to break through at Yeovil and Exeter and he turned out for his hometown club Taunton at the start of this season before signing for the Bluebirds.

He did not made an immediate impact and was sent to Screwfix First Division Corsham Town where he made a scoring appearance as he looked to catch the eye of the then Bluebirds boss Tommy Saunders.

Since Saunders left the club Porter has been trying to make an impression on new manager White and he hopes his spell at Devizes can prove fruitful.

Porter said: "I think I needed to go out on loan just to get games really. All season I've kind of been here there and everywhere without really getting games.

"So I got the offer at Devizes and I thought it was the best opportunity I could have to hopefully prove myself.

"Then when I get back to Chippenham hopefully I will get a chance there. If I can prove myself here it's then a matter of waiting to get to get my chance.

"Chalky said I'm still a young lad and if I can prove myself he wants to keep me which I'm more than happy about."

Porter admits he has had a turbulent football career so far but is now enjoying playing again.

"I grew up in Taunton and moved to Derby for a few years but I didn't really get the rub of the green there and they had a lot of players," the striker said.

"I went to Yeovil and Exeter and got a bit of an injury and lost a bit of interest. Now this season I have got my interest back and hopefully I can start banging in the goals again."

Although it was Saunders who took Porter to Chippenham the striker believes he can impress his new manager enough to give him a chance in the Bluebirds first team.

"When I went to help out Corsham it was so Tommy Saunders could have a look at me," Porter continued.

"I scored a goal even though I played on the right wing but Tommy got sacked that night and didn't really get a chance to look at me.

"I went back to Chippenham but haven't really had a chance yet. What I want to do now is score quite a few goals here at Devizes just to try to stand out as much as I can.

"As long as Devizes keep winning and I am getting a goal then I am going to be happy."
