TOWN were hoping to complete the loan signing of Everton defender Sean O'Hanlon this morning.

Providing Football League approval is received, the 21-year-old Liverpudlian is likely to go straight into the squad for the clash with Notts County at Meadow Lane tomorrow.

O'Hanlon has been a regular in the Goodison Park club's reserve side over the past couple of seasons but has yet to make the breakthrough into the Toffees' first team.

The centre half, who can also play at right-back when required, has yet to feature in the Premiership but he does boast international honours.

O'Hanlon has been a regular member of the England Under 20 squad, alongside Town midfielder Brian Howard.

Howard would be delighted to see his England colleague on board.

He said: "I've been with Sean in various England squads since I was 15.

"He's a strong, powerful defender and while I don't think he's as fast as Jerel Ifil, he's certainly no slouch.

"Sean's a good lad and I'm sure Nico (Andy Nicholas) would be glad to have another Scouser around the place."

While O'Hanlon provides King with options at the back, the Town boss is still not sure whether he will have a full complement of midfielders to choose from.

Stefani Miglioranzi's groin injury is still not 100 per cent and a decision on his fitness will be left until the last possible moment.

One man who definitely won't be involved at Meadow Lane is Finnish defender Mathias Lindstrom.

The 23-year-old has left the County Ground having failed to convince King that he was the man to replace Jerel Ifil.

Town's opponents have also strengthened their squad ahead of tomorrow's match.

County boss Gary Mills has added Derby County midfielder Paul Boertien to his squad and the Magpies manager is also reported to be chasing veteran Gillingham striker Tommy Johnson.
