SUPERMARINE forwards coach Andy Sear admits tomorrow's home clash with Calne is a key moment in his side's season.

Win and Marine can justifiably claim to have a fighting chance of avoiding the drop from Dorset & Wilts One.

Lose and the South Marston side face a bleak run-in to the campaign.

With third-from-bottom Calne a place and a point above them in the league, Sear knows his side need a result badly.

Calne took the honours 17-15 on their own patch earlier in the season and would be further ahead but for having to surrender two points after failing to fulfil a fixture at Blandford.

Marine, meanwhile, have just one win to their name so far this term and Sear admits that lack of success is showing.

He said: "I think the lads are lacking a bit of confidence at the moment. But if we can get a result in this game it could make our season.

"We have home advantage and we have to look to impose our game on them.''

Rock-bottom Weymouth, with 11 defeats from 11 this season, already look doomed.

But any one from three Blandford and Calne are also in the frame can be permed as to who will join them through the trapdoor if, as expected, two are relegated from the division at the end of the season.

Sear added: "We ran them close at their place earlier this season.

"Calne have got quite a few young players in their side and if we can get on top and get some early points, their heads might go down.

Supermarine though do have some injury problems, with wing Marv Woodhouse among those missing tomorrow's meeting.

Minety can do both Calne and Supermarine a favour tomorrow by beating struggling Blandford in Dorset and keep their own excellent first season in this section on the rails.

Corsham will look to maintain their 100 per cent start to the new year but will have their work cut out with an injury-hit side travelling to North Dorset.

In Dorset & Wilts Two North, both title-chasers Cricklade and Marlborough should keep up their bids with victories.

Leaders Cricklade, with a game in hand, can maintain their 100 per cent record by seeing off Salisbury 3rd and Marlborough go to Bassett 3rd.
